Resetting the displays to factory settings

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionPDF versionPDF version

In some cases during development it may be desired to reset the display to factory settings.  This can easily be accomplished but note that when doing this it will remove all files, libraries and runtimes installed on the display.  This includes both the LinX and CoDeSys runtimes.  If the LinX runtime is removed it can be re-downloaded and installed from our support site although if the CoDeSys runtime is removed it is more difficult to restore.  If the CoDeSys runtime is installed on the display and it is necissary to perform a factory reset please contact our support team first to discuss CoDeSys runtime re-installation.

Reset by logging into the device

To reset the display to factory settings do the following:

  • Log into the display through the Linux terminal or putty
  • When logged in type 'reboot-rescue.sh clear'.

This will reset the display to factory settings.  Any runtimes, libraries and applications will need to be re-installed.

Reset with USB

Sometimes if you are no longer able to connect to the display via the standard ethernet connection it may be necessary to factory reset the display with USB.  To do this you will need a USB connection to the display.

Download the zip file attached to this article.  Extract the 'cc-auto.sh' script into the root directory of the USB and insert into the display.  Wait for the display to reboot and remove the USB.  When the display reboots it will be reset to factory settings.  This means all runtimes will be erased and the display will aquire its IP address through DHCP.
